Hello again:
I have AI CS3. I don't print with it that often, but this evening, I wanted to make a few bookmarks, which I then would LAMINATE, and use.
But I CAN'T PRINT. The reason for this, is because the machine has a program task bar at the bottom, which BLOCKS ACCESS to the PRINT BUTTON.
(see the below screen shot, where I drew the red arrow showing that the PRINT BUTTON is obscured by the program task bar, and CAN NOT BE USED).
I did a screen shot, and the only reason I was able to save that, was because I was able to load PHOTOSHOP from the task bar, and saved it that way. I then re-loaded the screenshot .JPEG file into Illustrator, and drew the red arrow, pointing out the error.
This could only happen with Adobe. When I can not print, the only way to close the file, and the program is to WARM-BOOT the machine. The PRINT COMMAND BUTTON is UNAVAILABLE, as I pointed out....and when you move that window up, it snaps right back down to the bottom of the page again. WHEN is Adobe going to learn how to code the placement of its buttons correctly? So I had to HAND DRAW THEM with a sharpie, and laminate them, even though I have an expensive graphics program that is UNUSABLE FOR PRINTING, because of design flaws.
Maybe i should look at Corel Draw.....
Thank you,
Carl Starke

That won't help....the program task bar will still be at the bottom.

When are people going to learn how to read the system specifications?
For Illustrator CS3: Older versions of Adobe Illustrator system requirements and scroll waaayyy down: Windows XP
Running it on newer Windows (which have completely different coding fundamentals) might cause all sorts of errors.
To get your print, why don't you just hit Enter? Or return?
You could also try and position that task bar elsewhere.

I checked, and Illustrator CS3 was released in March 2007. If you move to CorelDRAW (note the spelling), you probably won't be able to buy a 10-year-old version of it. Very old software (from any vendor) is not supported on newer operating systems.
Monica's suggestion about changing the resolution would change the size of the Print dialog box so that you could see the buttons at the bottom. Also tab moves you through the dialog box, and she told you that Enter is the default shortcut for the command button to execute the dialog box (in this case "Print").
Also, Escape is the shortcut to cancel a dialog box, so you don't have to reboot the machine to get out of the Print dialog when you can't see the buttons.
Carl, I wish you had posted here before you resorted to hand-drawing and laminating the cards, because we could have walked you through this earlier!
And it's not an Adobe thing—I use a lot of software from a lot of companies. It's an operating system thing, on both Mac and Windows.
When I teach classes, they dumb down my resolution so students can see my monitor and occasionally I face the same dialog box issue that you are seeing now. It's frustrating, sure, but I use the shortcuts or change the resolution if I have to.
So please, just try changing the resolution, and bring up the Print dialog box again to see if you can see the buttons. Also try Escape to cancel and Enter to accept. Thank you!!!
