Can't erase from imported image.

Hi, 

I'm a beginner and i'm triing to erase a section of an image that I imported but it won't let me do it. I use the erase tool and then click off, but it comes back? 

Any help would be greatly appreteated!

Illustrator is a vector editing program.

To erase part of an image you need an image editing program like Photoshop.

But you may use masks:
