can't use eraser on imported - and embedded - image...

i wonder why I can't use the eraser on an image I have imported.

I have embedded the image and made sure in layers that it is selected.

Image means pixels?

The eraser will only work on vector paths.

Adobe might consider a pop-up answer, informing the user of why it's not working...

actually, a wide range of such issues could be thus resolved by Adobe if informative pop-ups were displayed in such situations.
