Can we save an outline from Image Trace as a document?

I used Image Trace to outline a photograph and really like the resulting outline. I want to convert the lines in the outline to an actual image, that is, save it as its own image. Is this possible? I've been playing around with the different menus and don't seem to be able to affect the image at all.

You need to expand the Image trace. Delete whatever you don't need. And then you can save it.

This was exactly what I was looking to do. Thank you.

You can make a vector trace from a photograph (select photograph, WINDOW/IMAGE TRACE, check preview box). Then expand the results and work with those paths. This is a destructive operation (replaces the original photo).

I think what you want to do is duplicate the image first (option+drag in layers panel), turn the original off, trace the duplicate and then you'll have both as separate objects.

Morning. Apparently, yes. By making several layers of the outline I could adjust the midpoint of the stroke in each, change the color for each layer, blur in diffent directions and combine them with a bit of masking and different blend modes to create a really cool image.
