Cannot Open CC AI file Saved as CS6 in Illustrator CS6

I created a file using the latest version (updated today BTW) of Illustrator CC and saved as a CC file, then I did a Save As and Saved a cpy oif this file as a CS6 file - and then sent it to a collaborator who cannot open the file using his copy of Illustrator CS6.  This worked beofre but not now.  Is there a bug in the latest version of CC?

Please use always version numbers as "the latest" is no more "the latest" when a new version comes out! (23.0.1?)

Could you specify the error message the collaborator gets? What exact version number is the collaborator using?

maybe downsave it further to CS etc
