Cannot unselect element

When is Adobe going to fix this eternal bug that has existed forever.  Once a day or more, when I work on a document, I get a stuck element that won't unselect itself with mouse click. It just stays actively selected even if I select another element (it just keeps both elements selected). Sometimes I have to look through my layers panel to find that rogue selected element and unselect it from there, but it is painstaking when you have hundreds of layers. Sometimes I have to close the document and reopen it to make it go away.

Time to get this bug moved to the top of the cue and get it fixed Adobe.

You could try submitting a request to Feature Request/Bug Report Form

In the meantime you might find it handy to use the Ctrl Shift A (WIndows) or Command Shift A (Mac) keyboard shortcut to deselect all.
