I created an image/object in PSCC 2017. It was on a transparent background. I copied it and pasted it into Illustrator CC 2017. Now it has a white background. How do I get my transparency back in Illustrator?
Thanks.
Don't flatten Photoshop file, save layered. Then, within Adobe Illustrator, Select "File", then "Place". Navigate to your saved Photoshop file and select it.

Don't use Copy/Paste. Use PLACE.

Test Name, shouldn't copy/paste or drag/drop retain transparency and even alpha transparency in the latest versions of Illustrator/Photoshop?
In older versions it doesn't work, so one had to place a .psd file, for example. Nowadays that shouldn't be necessary anymore.
coldwetnozz, about what kind of object are you talking and how do you copy and paste?

Hi coldwetnozz
If the image is placed in illustrator it should have transparency copied over please make sure what is the format, it should work fine if it is .png

Okay it does work if I do it that way. Copy and save png, then "Place" into Illustrator. But it seems like a lot of trouble. Easier to just keep the whole art work in PS. And, yes, I was trying to transfer it as part of a layer. Seems you can't do that.
Thanks to all!
