Color guide shades/tints not working properly

New Here ,

I use the color guide on shades/tints all the time with the same color palette. The shades used to get gradually darker as they were mixed with black and the tints would get gradually lighter as they were mixed with white.

Yesterday, it randomly started showing tones instead of shades. This was in the middle of me using it.  The colors under the "shade" headline are being mixed with grey instead of black. Yesterday, if I changed the color guide to show "warm/cool" and then changed it back to "tints/shades" it would display the correct swatches. I had to reboot my computer and now no matter what, the supposed "shades" are actually just mixed with grey instead of black.

I haven't changed any settings and this happens no matter what color palette I choose. It seems like a bug.

I know I'm not just crazy because I don't have anything like the colors I have used in previous graphics using only the color guide. It also used to be really easy to tell because the colors would go from dark to light, but now some of the greyer colors appear lighter than the main color.

I hope this wasn't too confusing, I'm having a hard time wording it.

Below is a screenshot of what my color guide looks like now.

Below is an example I pulled from the internet of what my color guide used to look like with shades and tints, with the colors gradually moving from black/almost black to really light colors from left to right.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas?

The posted image looks like a difference in document mode.

Perhaps the color guide you've seen in the past might look like this:

Emulate.png
This is when the color setting is "Emulate Adobe Illustrator X.X".
This setting is not recommended for color matching.
