If I copy a text box, then paste it, illustrator freezes for several seconds. This had gone away in recent updates, but now is back. Computer in windows 32 gb ram, recent CPU and graphic card. Any help will be appreciated!
We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. I hope the suggestions Monika shared helped resolve the problem. If not, would you mind trying to run Illustrator under Safe Mode (Windows / macOS) and checking if it helps? Also, try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and share your observations.
What version of Windows and what version of Illustrator are you using? The updates that you referred to are they of Illustrator or the Windows OS (Windows does auto-update on most PCs)? Did the return of this behavior happen immediately after updates? If so can you determine if it was an Illustrator update or Windows update that might have immediately preceded the return of the problem?
I use windows 11. I uninstalled illustrator and kept the preferences; the problem remained. However, now I uninstalled while removing the preferences/settings, and it looks like it is ok.
Usually this is what happens: it works for a while, and at some point the problem comes back. Hence I can't be 100% that this has anything to do with the illustrator update. Definitely nothing to do with windows since the problem is coming and going (this has been going on for at least 1 year).
Not sure how to pinpoint the problem, but it looks like when it does that I need to reinstall while deleting the preferences/settings to resolve the issue. Any ideas?

As soon as I copy any object, Ai freezes and closes. However if it is a new artboard it works fine. I tried reset preference and Re-installing Ai, didnt help. I would need a fix for this asap! I am not able to work on my projects because of this.
I noticed 1 more thing, if I save as the same file as a cloud file (.aic) it won't crash. However it will crash if I open 2 files. This was not happening before. My Pc details below.
