create this vector pattern

Hi All,

How would I go about creating this vector pattern? Each closed shape seems to gradually change in thickness and its all seamless, I know how to create a pattern but how do I create this complex pattern?

Any tips are very much appreciated.

The varying thickness can be created with  blend.

Then you can combine many of them and maybe use the pattern creation function: Object > Pattern > Make

It will require a lot of experimentation.
