Decrease line thickness of an object

I don't work in Illustrator so my apologies if I don't describe this in the best way. I have an Illustrator file of a logo as an object. It is an artist's signature. Is there a way to decrease the thickness of the logo lines? It's as if the artist signed his name with too thick a line. Thanks for any help!

So it's no longer a stroke or a brush that you can just make thinner?

In that case you could check out Effect > Path > Offset path. Enter a negative value for making it thinner. But not too large, because then nothing will happen. Measure the thickness and start very small.

It's an effect, so you might need to Object > Expand appearance to get real paths.

I wonder whether it could be caused by a stroke unintentionally added to the filled path(s) forming the signeture.

If it is, the stroke could be removed.

But the final result would look exactly the same as the solution Monika gave (if the offset is half the stroke weight).
