Hey,
I use illustrator cc to create cutting lines to be processed with roland versaworks. line thickness 0.25 and I safe this as an eps file adobe postscript language level 3.
When I open this file with versaworks I sometimes have a dubble cutting lines, close to each other.
This is not always the case
How is this or what am I doing wrong?
Hide the cutline.
Select All.
Choose Object Flatten Transparency.
Show the cutline and save as EPS

It might be that the file contains transparency and that the transparency flattener is set to outline strokes. So when you save as EPS, you actually outline those strokes.
I might be wrong but that could be a valuable explanation to me.

I do not think that it is in this case due to a transparency setting.

Are you sure you didn't apply a brush stroke?
Or a variable width profile?

I am sure this is not the case.

You will need to post an AI file and the corresponding EPS so we can have a look at it.

Your stroke is aligned to the outside.
EPS doesn't support that and therefore the stroke gets expanded.

I have tried it with other files and there is the stroke aligned in the center.
Also gives double cut line.

Can you please upload those as well?

In your sample, one is using drop shadow which consists in transparency (blend mode) and the other one also contains transparency as the "transparency preview" panel demonstrates…
All will be flattened by the postscript engine as transparency isn't supported.
Consider PDF if your software is APPE compliant.
Transparency issues was a good candidate since the beginning

Okay.
Thank you.
I'm going to look at how I can solve this.

I see the problem but how do I solve it.
Without removing the drop shadow effect ?

Opt in for a PDF workflow if possible. Otherwise you will have to do what @Ton_Frederiks suggested.
If you have hundreds of those file, you may want to automate the conversion process, feel free to get in touch at ozalto.com for a deeper study.

Your eps does not contain transparency because an eps does not support transparency.
But for your file the solution is simple:
Select the Layer 3, it contains a Compound Path.
Select it and choose: Object > Compound Path > Release.
The result is 2 paths, delete the bottom one from the Layers panel.

Not exactly true. PostScript language doesn't support Transparency I agree. However, an Illustrator EPS file as a compatible Illustrator PDF file is a composite file embedding two types of data : native and postscript data.
If you re-open this file in Illustrator (given that the file was initially saved by Illustrator, the app will read the native data and so you will be able to retrieve any out of ps feature such as transparencies, drop shadows, filters…
If you open the file outside of AI, the converted data will be read. Those data were written when saving the AI EPS File and this is where paths were outlined as some transparency needed to be flattened.
This is actually this transparency that lead to paths being outlined.
