Edge is dead, Flash is dead- so what do I learn now?

I see the future of web animation as animated svg/HTML5.

Is there a current Adobe Product (or free/cheap competitor) in which I can create web animation and that can provide me with a fairly easy WYSIWYG UI?

Thanks creative folks!

You can export HTML5 from Animate, but you have to be quite careful about avoiding incompatible functions.

thanks Doug.

Is that what people do now then?

I've been concentrating on static work for over a decade now and need to get to grips with web animation again.

Whatever's the most conventional and widely-adopted workflow/tools is the way I'd like to go!

I'm afraid we might have to wait for someone else to come along for an answer to that. I use it for short videos mostly.

Any further advice as to what "incompatible functions" means please?

Motion tweens get converted to frame-by-frame animations, for instance. I've seen this cause severe changes in animation. There are probably many more examples, but this is one I see all the time.

If you're willing to look at something other than Adobe you may consider Hype 3.6 ($50.00 for perpetual license).

Animate CC used to be Flash.

Right, but fortunately flash (SWF) isn't the only thing you can export from Flash.

Flash is alive, just is called now Animate. You can use it.
