Editing Embeded Metadata Fields

New Here ,
Jul 21, 2025 Jul 21, 2025

I noticed when uploading an illustrator file to our enterprise dam that not all the expected metadata was accompanying the file: specifically copyright information.  According to the dam IT illustrator uses a "XMP:Rights" tag for the copyright field instead of "IPTC:CopyrightNotice" or "XMP:Copyright" which the dam expects so it doesn't get read.  Is there anyway to change this?

@kristin_9291 I don't think Illustrator can change that, but you can defintely change it from using Adobe Bridge. When you edit metadata in Bridge, it often populates multiple relevant fields across different schemas (IPTC, XMP) simultaneously, increasing the chances your DAM will pick it up.

Hi @kristin_9291,

Thanks for sharing the details. I recommend trying the suggestion from the community expert regarding Adobe Bridge.

In the meantime, I have also reached out to the product team to check if there is a way to control or customize how Illustrator writes metadata fields. I will keep you posted as soon as I have an update from them.

Looking forward to hearing how it goes with Bridge.
