Elements are not exporting properly when exported to SVG in Illustrator

Hey!

I have an issue with built-in export feature, and was trying different ways to resolve it.

There is AI file with artboards, each of them has building plan (from AutoCAD).

When I export specific artboard as SVG, some elements (doors) are broken.

Original -> After Export

Also you can notice, that not every element breaks.

According to:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/trouble-exporting-shape-with-points-to-svg/td...

I checked SVG end-file, there is no <ellipse> tag. This is what happens if I add extra point.

Please try to Expand Appearance of the  objects in Ai before exporting or Outline Path of critical objects  for simplify code for SVG.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing. I would like to know if the steps suggested above by @Ares Hovhannesyan worked for you? If not, I would request you to share a few more details like:

  • Exact OS & version of Illustrator
  • Is the issue related to a specific document? If yes, could you please share the document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link.
  • Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, or web extensions installed recently.

Also, after you have expanded appearance, ungroup all the objects and check there are only compound paths or try moving all elements to another layer.

I'll be looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul Saini

macOS Catalina 10.15.5

Illustrator 25.4.1 (this issue was on previous version(s) too)

No significant changes in system were made, especially recently.

Thank you for sharing the details and sharing the file. I tried your export setting, and I am able to replicate the issue. But if I do Collect for export as a Single Asset, I am unable to replicate this. Any particular reason you are using these export settings? Here is the exported SVG file (https://shared-assets.adobe.com/link/af72c5d0-7373-49ee-5d29-aff156f7d1fc); I tested it on different computers, viewers, and browsers. Let us know if this resolution works for you.

It's very interesting. You're right, when I export a single asset - everything looks fine, but...

For me, it's very important to receive SVG on a 1920x1080 viewbox with specific coordinates, so asset export isn't suitable.

Also, I noticed, if I add an extra layer 1920x1080 to imitate the artboard, and export as an asset, this issue still appears! I start to think, this bug is related to viewbox somehow.

Also tried File->Export->Export As .svg - doesn't help

P.S. There are requirements for end files, that limits my experiments: .svg, small size, 1920x1080, little time to prepare 🙂

Thank you for trying that, @Ares Hovhannesyan. While "Save As," you may select "Use Artboards" by doing this, you will get 1920x1080 resolution. I noticed the file you sent me was in "pt," not in "px" units. Also, I am sharing my export settings. Additionally, I checked the file in a text editor, and it is showing 1920x1080 resolution in the code if you use these export settings. I hope it helps.

Tried this option - doesn't help. Tried to change pt to px - doesn't help either.

Thank you for tying. Could you please share what you are getting when you are exporting with these settings?
Resolution is not correct, or placement of the object is not current after using the "Save As" settings shared above?

We are here to help. We just need more information.

Regards,

Anshul Saini
