Hello,
Updated to the latest version 25.2.1 (on a Mac with Catalina) and something weird started to happen: everytime I switch between apps - Photoshop and Illustrator, for example - the color settings in Illustrator change to "Emulate Adobe® Illustrator® 6.0" without asking and with no reason I can think of, also I never used this setting before and this didn't happen with the previous versions, so I'm gessing it's a bug. I've tried to save the custom settings I normally use, but it still changes back to Emulate if I switch to another app and then return to Ai. Anyone else experiencing this? Is there a way to fix this? It's getting annoying really fast.
Hi All,
Sorry to hear about your experience. Product team is working on this issue. I'd request you to upvote on this UserVoice post(https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/42892902-illustrator-v25-2-1-color-profile-keeps-changing-t) & stay tuned for the updates.
Additionally, please try this workaround & let us know if it helps:
1. Lower Photoshop from 22.3 to 22.2.
2. Specify any color setting in Illustrator.

It also happens to me since the update of last March 10th.

Hi. Please try choosing the color setting with Adobe Bridge, which synchronizes it with all Adobe apps.

Hi,
I have already done it and it continues to happen the same (it does not synchronize), it is an error since the update of the program to version 25.2.1, since in the version before updating that did not happen.

Exactly. Also it shouldn't be necessary to synchronize all apps, what if you only work in Ai? In this version, if you create a new document and don't switch between apps, it is created in the "Emulate Adobe® Illustrator® 6.0" profile by default and it wasn't in the previous version. So it's something new to this one. Anything I try to change turns out to be pointless since it goes back to that profile with any new document created or if you switch between apps.

Right, that's what is happening, it is not a user protocol problem, if not this latest update.

THIS ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT HELP!!!
The same problem persists in both InDesign and Illustrator when switching from Photoshop to either application. It even happens when neither of the applications is open.

Use the CC app to revert Photoshop to the Previous version (22.2.0) and then change your Color Settings to what you want it to be.

Yes, I discovered that this was also an issue in 2018 when searching for answers to this versions's bug. Back then I never had that problem and I went through all the versions. The solution provided then was updating the apps, but it was the recent update that brought the bug. I was hoping someone had a workaround before we get a new update with a fix.

Even if you operate Photoshop while Illustrator is running, it will not emulate the settings by itself.
We appreciate your patience.

Hello Ashutosh,
Voted. I'd also voted for another post with the same issue a few days ago.
As for the workaround, it seems to work on both Illustrator and InDesign. I didn't mention it before but InDesign 16.1 was always on "Emulate Adobe InDesign 2.0 CMS Off" setting by default since the last update, and it wasn't before.
I have the 3 programs running simultaneously, switching between apps, and the colors are not changing back to Emulate. Also, after closing and reopening the apps, when a new document is created it is no longer on Emulate setting as well.
Thank you for the workaround but please fix this bug soon. Any idea on why Photoshop 22.3 is doing this to Ai an Id?

This worked. Thanks so much. My hope is that the problem won't reappear when I decide to update Photoshop one day.

This workaround seems to solve the problem for me, too. So, this is a bug in Photoshop that is somehow effecting Illustrator and InDesign? Can't wait for the fix.

See the other answers, go back to the previous version of Photoshop and after that set your Color Settings.

Downgrading to Photoshop 22.2.0 solved the problem for now.

Hi Ashutosh!
I still have same problem now so what version ps and Illustrator, should I use same 22.2?
Then install, open delete settings from illustrator? I work on my pc.
Should I find settings locally and delete?
When I have a problem: I always update window, then adobe apps, delete settings in illustrator, then driver nvidia, then
update wacom driver, where an older version, is still the boss. ( I have to look into that problem, old solution from your support to make new wacom work. )

Hello @ingelablack,
I'm sorry to hear you're having the same problem with Illustrator. Would you mind confirming the exact version of Photoshop/Illustrator installed and screenshots of your workflow and the problem, so I can better assist you?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Anubhav!
Thanks for speedy answer!
I have illustrator and photoshop latest versions, for windows, but I had the problem before. in illustrator.
I work mostly lately in illustrator, I need to solve the illu problem today so I can send docs. Photoshop I can solve later. When I try later I may be able to screen shot. I have setings in swedish.
The problem is when opening document it asks it is not happy with color profile, workspace and embedded.
( It may be ok to produce documents and produce ok pdfs smallest versions, in 300ppi export rgb version for online viewing, etc but I want to exlude this.)
I always use same setting for standard work Prepress European, adobeRgb, sorry if not correctly repeted. Preserve embedded profiles, CMYK coated fograz 39, preserve numbers.
Recently I have saved and resaved and uncheck the ask for mismatch, but not work.
What version of illu you think I should revert to? I can do also ps if they are connected? And the an uknown for me colour selection

Hi @ingelablack,
Thank you for sharing the details of your workflow and the challenges you’re facing. Here’s how we can address these issues:
1. Color Profile and Workspace Mismatch
• Ensure your default color settings are consistent across Adobe applications. In Illustrator:
• Go to Edit > Color Settings and choose Europe Prepress 3 (if this matches your workflow).
• Set Policies to Preserve Embedded Profiles for both RGB and CMYK.
• If mismatch prompts persist despite unchecking the option in settings, try resetting preferences.
2. Reverting to a Previous Version
• If you suspect this issue might be linked to the latest update, you can install an earlier version of Illustrator through the Creative Cloud app:
• Open Creative Cloud Desktop > All Apps > Illustrator > More Actions (three dots) > Other Versions.
• Install version 28.X, which you know worked well.
3. Compatibility Between Versions
• Illustrator files created in newer versions can usually be opened in older ones by saving the file in a compatible format:
• Go to File > Save As, then choose an Illustrator CC Legacy format (e.g., CC 2020).
• Note that some newer features may not translate fully.
4. Linked Files Issues
• If linked files aren’t displaying or updating correctly:
• Check the Links Panel in Illustrator (Window > Links) for file statuses.
• Update or relink any missing files by selecting them in the panel and clicking Relink.
5. Graphics Tablet Drivers
• Since you mentioned an older Wacom driver is still in use, confirm it’s compatible with the latest Illustrator version.
• Consider reverting Illustrator or updating the Wacom driver to the most stable version for your setup.
Let me know if this helps or if you need additional guidance!
Best,

Hi!
Should I answer email or post here? Should I adress as a new request?
I still have problems. I work in old illu 8 now. My old settings seemed to work by default first.
If I save the documents in colours as recommended, it works only if uncheck this and not and downloaded version European prepress 3. If I do I have the uncheck option there. But if it is good enough to work with without faulty pdfs later I want to try this now.
I have found illustrator settings, many old from 22 to 24 and recent? You want to keep illustrator 26? If I want to use later.
I have copies but maybe I dont need? It was 600 Mb. Also a folder called com.adobe.dunamis old from recent 250MB
I saw that also latest settings today even if i deleted. I will again now.
What version ai should I try now?
