Hi! I am trying to export a file to png format. I follow the process but when i go to open the file after export, it is being saved as a document that cannot open. My mac is up to date and I am using Ai 2024 which is also updated. The file I am trying to export is a file that I have been exporting every month for the last 2 years with no issues. Cheers

Exactly how are you exporting the PNG? And where do you save it?

What makes you think that your Mac cannot open it?

Which system is it?

Hey 🙂 Process is file>export>export as>format type PNG which is then saved to my one drive. When I locate the file, instead of being saved as a PNG image it has saved as the file kind 'document'. When I open this, it pops up with the message "there is no application set to open the document" It gives me the option to search the app store but then this message appears: "This app is currently not available in your country or region."

What happens if you save it to another place, like your desktop?

You can also try to turn off Preferences > File Handling > Export/Save in Background

They automatically open with Preview. I ended up being able to save and open my PNG file but my process is now file>export>export for screens. I've never had to "export as screens" before so I don't know whats changed but this process worked.

Good to hear you solved it. Maybe a computer restart or Reset Preferences would have done the same.

Then maybe assign an application to it via File > Info in the Finder?
