When exporting to JPG, the background turns black with just a ghost of the image showing, like there's a black overlay with 95% opacity. In my Illustrator file there is no background and it exports/saves to PNG, SVG, and EPS fine. I haven't changed any settings (unless the dog stepped on my keyboard when I wasn't looking haha 😕).
Here's what I see in Illustrator
Here's my Export dialog box
And here's how it looks when finished exporting
I have tried re-exporting with the same results, and also copied/pasted the image to a new Illustrator file with the same results.
Any ideas?
What do you use to view the jpeg?
Some (windows) viewers don't like CMYK jpegs.
Try export with RGB color mode.

That's it! That's the solution! Why is that the solution? Whatever, it works.
Thank you. You're my hero 🙂

Good to hear that helped.
As for why? These viewers don't know that CMYK jpegs exist.
