Fastest way of making an image based presentation

Hi everyone,

I often go out and take up to 300 photos of various things, and then collate them into a Powerpoint presentation, with 8 photos on each page, my watermark in the corner, and a caption at the bottom. When the images are in the hundreds, this can easily take hours and hours to finish a presentation. I have experimented with various softwares to find the fastest way and I have found cons to each, so I was hoping someone here might direct me to a better way of working? The main feature I am looking for is zoom to fill, as this would save a lot of time resizing images. The majority of them would not need amending if they by default fit the whole box without rotating to fit.

- Powerpoint: Can create a template of 2x4 boxes (for images), right click to replace image for each, adjust photo to fit in frame depending on portrait or landscape image, can duplicate original template page, further customisation is possible and easy

- Illustrator: Can have clipping masks with images that can be replaced, but can't automate image to zoom to fill space. Can also have caption and watermark, and can duplicate original template page, plus futher customisation of presentation is possible and easy - would love a script that gathers all images from a folder and updates existing images on Illustrator with them while also zooming to fill - have made a script that does this, but not zoom to fill

- InDesign: cannot zoom to fill, not much different than Illustrator in that regard, does not save time

- Adobe Express: can duplicate original template page, can zoom to fill, easy customisation, however, for large projects of over 100 pages x 8 photos on each one, PDF struggles to save and lowers resolution of image. Zoom to fill features are perfect.

- Lightroom Classic: Custom package is good but does not allow for duplicating the original template page. Picture package is good but does not allow for differing captions on each page. Also does not allow for one-off title pages. Zoom to fill features are perfect.

I think I am missing something, I think this definitely should be possible somehow. Attached is 1 page of 60 from a recent presentation for the form I am trying to achieve. Any help would be so appreciated 🙂

I would also recommend InDesign.

Drag & drop 8 images from i.e. Windows Explorer onto your InDesign page, drag a frame with the width of 4 images, then press the right arrow key 3 times and the up key once to create an image grid of 4 x 2 images.

Click.

Then press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + C to fill all the image frames proportionally.

(edit) or:

Ctrl + Alt + X

Not sure how you can manage in what order the images get placed.
