I saw a solution in the In Design forum, but I wanted to post this here so Adobe knew it was Illustrator as well. And I just uninstalled and reinstalled from Creative Cloud, so I know it's still there.
Trying to use the File->New dialog brings up a blank dialog window with %ccx_fnft_dialog_name in the title bar. No way to open a new file.
Workaround is to open edit->preferences->general and check to use legacy file open.
Hi, I had the same problem and google it to find a solution on indesign that worked for photoshop as well.
Go to:
Edit > Preferences > General
check the box that says "Use legacy "File New" interface"
Click OK
Then try to open a new file
It worked for me...so I'd bet it will work for you too.!!
Had the same problem. Not an issue with your OS or your Machine.
Close Illustrator. Open the C:/ drive>program files 86>common files>Adobe>CEP
Cut the CEP folder and paste on desktop.
Restart Illustrator
Worked for me.
I then deleted the folder and all was well.

Please contact the Customer support, because this can actually be solved. But it's not a generic issue, someone has to take a look at your setup.

That's odd, since it was working just fine the other day. And in the other thread in the indesign forum, they said they had moved it to a high priority issue.

I also had the same issue after 2018 update.
The fix suggested above did the trick. THANK YOU!
