Finding the Color Compliment

I'm on a Windows 10 machine, running Ai CC 2017. How do I get the color compliment for an active swatch?

In older versions of Ai, up through CS 5.5, the swatch panel used to offer this by holding Cntrl and clicking on the color square (thumbnail). Since CS 6 through the current version, this feature no longer exists.

This works if the color hasn't been made into a swatch. Once I make a swatch and assign it to my fill, the Compliment option in the menu has no effect. I also tried unselecting the swatch and then clicking Compliment, but all it does is reselect the swatch again.

Seems to work for me, even when made into a swatch.

The Complement command in the Colour palette does not work if you have global or spot colour swatches applied.

For those swatches you can use the Colour Guide palette (see dropdown menu at the top of the palette).
