Font appearing in inconsistent weights.

Hi!

I've been using Acumin Variable Concept and have noticed at times the weight of specific letters appear differently. It seems to apply mostly two the lighter weights. Does anyone know what may cause this or how to fix it?

Hello @Purchasing30643366j28u,

Thanks for reaching out. Would you mind confirming the version of OS/Illustrator installed on your device and if Illustrator also behaves this way with other files? Also, kindly check if using this font in other applications also results in similar results, and share your observations and some sample files, so we can check it on our end.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hi Anubhav,

I'm using Adobe Illustrator 2023 and macOS Ventura. It seems that the font may be the issue, it is also giving the same inconsistent weight in Microsoft Outlook.

It could be an on-screen display issue. Does this error happen in all display modes (outline, CPU Preview, GPU Preview)? What happens if the text is converted to outlines; does the text still have random characters showing different weights?

One routine trouble-shooting step: check to see if any updates are available for your graphics card/chip.

Another possible work-around: the Acumin Variable typeface is available to sync at Adobe Fonts. The "concept" version bundled inside Adobe Illustrator may be a different build of the font than the one served up at Adobe Fonts. It's possible the version at Adobe Fonts may work better. Plus you'll be able to use Acumin Variable in other applications (by "installing" it within the Creative Cloud app after the font is "added" at Adobe Fonts). The Acumin Variable Concept font is only available to Illustrator since it is in a Illustrator program sub-folder.

Hi Bobby,

After reading your post, I think it may be a screen issue.  I sent a PDF that was showing incorrectly on my Mac to my coworker who has a PC, and she was not seeing the same problem.  Also, if I look at my PDF in fullscreen, I see the error, however when I zoom in—the error disappears. Screenshots attached.  Thank you!
