Hi all,
I'm trying to create some mockups in AI for powerpoint and noticed that the font size renders differently in power point. I have set my AI Artboard to 4:3(1024 x768) to match powerpoint's 4:3 ratio already
ie. Typeface Calibri at 44pt is much BIGGER (takes up more space on canvas) in Powerpoint than in AI.
Anyone knows why and any workarounds?
It seems reasonable to expect things to be the same size in different apps. But they aren't (unless you happen to luck out). 100% size means something different in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat. Just to name 4. And different in web browsers. So PowerPoint is different again.
To match sizes on screen, just zoom in Illustrator or Powerpoint until you find a match. Note down the percentage number so you can use it again quickly.

trying out a 1920 x 1080 file in both, it seems to be larger by double (677.33 mm vs 338.67 mm) in Illustrator vs PowerPoint.
Illustrator's base unit is a point (1/72 inch), and it treats a pixel as equivalent, so its artboard size is based on that. i don't know what PowerPoint's is based on.

well, apart from a pixel apparently being 1/144 inches.
