Fonts in Windows 11

Participant ,

I transferred all my fonts in Fontbook from my mac to my pc, Windows 11. The transfer was successful because I can see them in Photoshop, but I can't see them in Illustrator. I've searched for answers, but I haven't found any answer this specific.

How do I get them to show up in illustrator?

I figured out the answer to my own question. It was only certains fonts that didn't transfer, coincidentally the two that I wanted to use.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Exactly what did you do to install the fonts?

Are the fonts installed "For all users"?

Hi Monika,

I am an individual, so there are no other users.

I created a folder on a portable HD, copied the contents of Fontbook to the drive, opened the folder on my pc, selected all, right clicked, chose install.

The fonts that weren't permitted and duplicates were overridden. I've attached a screenshot subset of the files.

Thank you

It doesn't matter whether there are other users.

I agree, I didn't think the number of users mattered. I was responding to your question.

Unless something has changed lately some OSX and iOS system fonts will not install on a Windows PC. One of the main hangups is TTC font files (TrueType Collection); the Windows OS doesn't know what to do with them. Several years ago I ended up buying a copy of Avenir Next Pro so I wouldn't be confined to using the fonts only on my iPad Pro.

Typically fonts in a Windows PC need to be installed in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder in order for all applications to see them.

Thank you for your input.
I was able to successfully install the fonts from my mac to pc. With the installation, any fonts that Windows 11 identified as not allowed prompted a pop-up where I could bypass it and any others like it, such as TTC.
Actually, I wasn't able to transfer all my fonts, just the ones that were allowed.
I used to use font software, but the capabilities of the Windows & Mac have improved significantly enough for my purposes.

Applications like TransType (from FontLab Ltd) can convert fonts from various platform-specific formats (like Postscript Type 1) into other formats like OpenType.

Thank you. I was able to transfer my favorite fonts. But I will check into
what applications are available.
