Gradient and pattern issues in EMF output

I’m making several images for a client who wants to use them in PowerPoint and convert to a PDF.

I’ve exported the .AI file as a .EMT file. That file is then inserted in PPT and saved as PDF.

This process worked great for 8 other similar images but this particular one looks terrible in the area with the gradation and the pattern.

Any suggestions for how I might do the gradation and pattern differently to improve how it renders?

Flatten the artwork manually before export.

I would "export as" TIFF or JPEG, directly from illustrator.

My experience,  tells me that when you use filters and effects (gradients in some cases), it's safer to rasterize (and convert text to curves) the final artwork. Just in case, that what I do. And keep the original.

Pay attention to the color scale. EPS image is in CMYK, and the PDF is in RGB.

And I believe that PowerPoint "likes" RGB images.
