[HELP] Creating Editable Seamless Patterns from Multiple Objects

How do you create a seamless repeating pattern from multiple objects while maintaining the ability to edit individual elements later? Looking for a non-destructive workflow.

Object > Pattern > Make?

Once you have created a pattern with the pattern maker, you can double click the pattern in the Swatches panel to edit it.
