Hinting won't stop

Hello all,

I have a file that I've worked on in Illustrator that uses a lot of text. I HAVE OUTLINED all the text in the file. When I save as a .PDF...I'm still seeing hinting in the lower case "L" everywhere in the file. Can anyone answer me why hinting would still take place even after I've outlined everything? I use a couple different fonts in the file, one of the main culprits is Myriad Pro, however AGAIN it's been outlined so it's not really Myriad Pro anymore.

One suggestion: Stop doing that. In this day and age there is no reason to do what you are doing. Just save the PDF and allow it to subset the fonts. Outlining fonts is only necessary when you are doing something like a logo with minimal text.

I'm sending this file to a plate maker, I have to outline all font per their request. Also I'm not necessarily looking for a work around...I just want to know why this would even occur in the first place.

This happens in Acrobat. It is trying to enhance. stuff and you need to turn those options off.

As per what Monika says the problem is with the Enhance Thin Lines in the Acrobat Preferences. The problem is that it is controlled by the Acrobat preferences on the machine on which it is being viewed. You cannot change the preference or force it to be the way you want it to appear. The only thing you can do is suggest that whoever uses the file set their preferences the way you want. Or you could also go through the file and add an anchor point to every lower case "L" in all your text to make it work. Your choice.

What do you mean by "hinting"? If you notice it, sounds like the opposite. Sans serif L and I are commonly ruined by outlining. But only on screen. Printing shoukd be ok.
