Hello everyone. I am a newb to illustrator and I am learning by myself so with that please bear with me. I want to add color to the outer wing part that is highlighted. Hopefully that makes sense with the picture. Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance.Screenshot 2019-04-19 09.39.37.png

You could achieve ths with either the live paint or the shapebuilder tool. However you will still need gap detection turned on.

If the gap is too great when using "Live Paint" add a "closing" path with stroke set to "none".

There are many videos on You Tube showing how Live Paint works. A recently posted one that looks promising can be found at: Live Paint Bucket Illustrator Tutorial - YouTube .

I would create another layer underneath and use the blob brush to paint this manually. It’s quick and easy, particularly if you are using a Wacom tablet 🙂
