How do I open a postscript file?

Hi, someone sent me a logo as an .ai file but I can't open it because my computer keeps telling me the .ps file couldn't be converted into a pdf. How do I access the document? If I manage to do so, can I edit it?

    Hi Amadís ,

if the provided file is in indeed a PostScript file you could convert it to PDF using Acrobat Distiller and open the PDF with Illustrator.

Distiller comes with every Acrobat Pro DC installation.

    Regards,

PostScript is a programming language which is written as a text file. To open it, you need to open it with a text editor, preferably one which is used for structured text like BBEdit on a Macintosh.

Sometimes the browser adds the ps extension to a downloaded file on its own. You could try and just delete it or replace it by .ai

Is the file an .eps file?  An .ai file is not a postscript file.  Try File > Place ( the file sent to into a new Illustrator document ).
