How to add space around an image in front of words?

I am extremely new to the Adobe world.  I am having trouble adding an image in font of a quote.  I would like to add a white space around the image so that it stands out from the quote and doesn't blend in.  Any recommendations?

Can you show what you have? You could add a mask around the image and add a stroke to it, perhaps.
