There is a script that does that. But since there are a gazillion shapes, you might be unhappy with the performance. Try and ungroup all and then add the Effect > Path > Offset path to the shapes.

Thank you, but yes, it just turns everything into shapes that don't really work for the piece. I did some effect edits that helped the overall look, but I still feel like there should be a way to do this that isn't selecting each color at a time - maybe next adobe update lol

I don't see the difference between Offset path and applying a stroke of the same color as the fill.
You might want to explain that.

With strokes, you can use artistic brushes like ink, paintbrush, charcoal, etc., which is how I want my shapes' edges to look, not just a straight line. Effects get the look, but it isn't as clean.

Do not select all your shapes and run the script. You might not be happy with the performance. Do them in chunks,.
When you apply brushes to those shapes, you might be very unhappy with the performance.
