How to disable simultaneous selection-drag in Illustrator

I use a tablet, because most of my work is painterly/sculptural/CAD. Using a tablet with Illustrator is very frustrating however because every time I try to select an object, there's a good chance I've nudged it ever so slightly. Is there a way (as there is in Rhino3D) whereby an object will only be moved if it is *already* selected? Or alternatively, as nuts as it may sound: is there a way to disable object dragging altogether in Illustrator? I would be so happy if there was. All I use Illustrator for is coloring stuff exported out of other applications and currently I use my trackpad to gently tap shapes so they don't get moved, and it's really annoying.

I think that as to be some setting on your tablet. Illustrator doesn't move things without selecting, but if you want to select without moving you need to make sure you click rather than drag. Many tablets can use the mouse button to click, that way you can hover-click rather than click with the tip… would that be a way of getting around your problem? You can also try using the lasso select tool, it will select only and never moves the object.
