How to easily get rid of stray anchor points after image trace

Hello,

Often I have to create custom shapes by using an image traced picture. I use the Unite pathfinder tool to make the picture all a single- colour fill, however I am often left with these small anchor points inside the fill (see attached image). Is there an easy way to remove these en masse, or am I stuck selecting and deleting each individual one?

Thankyou for looking 🙂

Try Object > Compound Path > Release, then Pathfinder > Unite

Though of course this won't be acceptable if you need your trace to be a compound path (i.e. it contains negative space that's supposed to be there).
