How to get rid of "Your current color settings" alert that comes with every document I open.

That is not a needless click. It's a warning from color management that should be taken seriously and it shows you that you haven't set up color management properly.

Conversion of CMYK files might lead to black becoming muddy. It's especially bad when you link vector files (or import vector content).

This barely scratches the surface: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/using/setting-color-management.html

There are trainings on LinkedIn available as well (not for free)

When I get the message I have two options -- open the document or don't open it. I open it as I always do. But with an unneccessary click. If there's a problem Adobe should offer an option that remedies the problem. For example if I open a file that has a font I lack, I'm offered an option to replace the font. Am I offered a way to remedy the wrong color settings? No. Either open the document or don't. That's it.

I've been using Illustrator ever since Adobe destroyed Macromedia. I have a huge body of illustrator documents -- all of them made using Adobe's default settings. They are all improperly set up? Well, I'm not surprised. But we've been using these faulty documents just fine for years.

We also use a service Iclipart. Every single Illustrator file I download from Iclipart is also faulty. No surprise. They're illustrator documents after all.

Nope. Honoring the color profiles is not the default color management setting.

The default settings in color management are either the "Universal" or "Print/Prepress 3" (depending on the version). Both are set up to ignore CMYK profiles.

The secure CMYK workflow has been introduced in version CS2 and it has been set as the default ever since.

How do I return to the default "Universal" or "Print/Prepress 3" color management settings?

I am using Adobe Illustrator version 24.0.3

Edit > Color settings.

Seriously: if you don't want to get yourself into trouble, learn color management. No publishing app works without color management these days. You either control it or it controls you. And your work.

Nope. Neither "Universal" nor "Print/Prepress 3" at Edit > Color Settings

Which version is it?

And what is your actual problem?

Those presets are just a combination of settings. They do nothing magical.

Try clicking on the More Options button to see if more presets can be selected.

It's turned off in Edit > Color Settings > Untick options under Profile Mismatches and/or missing profiles.

Monika they didn't ask opinions on whether they should turn it off, they asked how to turn it off. If keeping it on works for your workflow, yay for you. Lots of people find it annoying and useless in their workflow. Just answer the question and let people decide for themselves if it's gonna be a problem, the unprompted color management sermon just makes it harder to find the actual answer in this thread.

Just answer the question

The answer is that it can't be turned off.

The setting that triggers the warning has been introduced in version CS2.

And since then the error cannot be turned off.

If you want to be able to control the warning, you have to make a feature request.

Also: I'm just the messenger. As 95% of participants in the forum, I am not staff.

Feature requests go here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com
