how to make eyes for a smiley face equal and even

I'm trying to make an image of a smiley face for a project and I am stuck on the eyes. I need to use two different shapes for the eyes but can not get them the same size or location on the circle (face). Also, how can I make sure the entire image is perfect, even, and straight? Im still learning illustrator, and I need some advice.

TY!

In order to prevent eyes from looking like they peel, I would perhaps not mirror them in the artwork.

It all depends on the style of the artwork. If someone is wanting to create an abstract "have a nice day" smiley face or a similar graphical icon then mirroring would be a good approach. If the face is supposed to be more realistic looking then oppositions would definitely look more natural. They could still use mirror tricks to block out the basic shapes and then refine the artwork further afterward.

I think it would depend on the level of abstraction. And that's why I asked for a screenshot.

You could draw one half of the smiley face and then use a choice of different methods to create a flipped copy that is matched up to the original half. Then make slight alterations to objects to disrupt the symmetry if needed.

It sounds like you need to learn how to use the align panel. There are a number of videos showing the basics of it operation on You Tube including the one found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOQ0fnOtkXY

Could you perhaps show a screenshot of your artwork so we can help you more precisely?
