How to make shapes forget original rotation?

Community Beginner ,

I recently got a new computer and was finally able to upgrade from CC2015 to the most current version.  Somewhere in that time, shapes started remembering their rotation angle in the transform box.  Based on my searches for an answer, I learned this was a feature people have been requesting for a long time, but I've been using Illustrator for over 20 years, and it breaks one of my regular work flows.  Is there a way to turn off this new feature?  Or is there a way to make it forget the shape's original rotation?

At this time there is no way to turn off this feature. You can Object > Transform, and reset the bounding box if that helps at all with your workflow. If that doesn't do the trick, of course you can re-install the previous version of Illustrator.

Thank you for your quick answer.  Sadly, I may just have to do that.  It already adds extra steps to expand shapes so they behave like they used to. Having to go through the additional steps to reset the bounding box on each item, every time I do a rotation, just becomes too much extra work.

In a magical world, every time Adobe adds a new "feature" they need to include a way to turn off that new feature so us old farts who work on decades of muscle memory don't have to fight with the software.

You're welcome. Maybe it would help for you to create an Action that expands the shape or resets the bounding box. That might save a second or two each time.

Went down that path.  It just created a different additional work flow.  Slightly less, but still more than previous.  I just rolled back to 2014, which takes care of it and several other changes I have been unhappy with.  Thanks!

that's what needed! thanks

p.s. it is a usefull feature for the object to "remember" the original rotation position - this way you can "0" the angle whenever you want to make it 100% straight
