How to Move Fonts between Installations of Illustrator CC

New Here ,
Sep 19, 2017 Sep 19, 2017

Hi,

I am wanting to move all my fonts from one installation (2015.X) of illustrator CC on a different computer to my new computer which I have installed illustrator cc 2017 on.

I see all the same fonts from the CC assets page on the Adobe CC management suite on the desktop, but there are still some fonts missing.

Is there an easy way for me to copy the missing fonts from the old PC to the new PC?

Is this through Illustrator or through Windows?

More Info:

Old PC was Windows 7 x64, and the new PC is Windows 10 x64 - both professional versions.

Second Question:

How can I move color palettes from one installation of illustrator CC to another installation of illustrator cc?

I am, again, moving from the 2015.X to 2017 illustrator CC.

Thank you!

That's in C:\Users\Your name\App Data\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator [Version] Settings\en_US (or whatever language)\x64\Swatches (resp Brushes, Symbols, Graphic Styles)

Typekit fonts should be there already.

Then you also need to copy the fonts installed in your system.

Please refer to the Windows documentation on where to look for your fonts.

As for the color palettes:

You could use Edit > My settings > Export settings to save them to a ZIP and then transfer that to the new computer. It should contain all your custom libraries. You could unzip it and then see what you need from it. You might not be able to import the preferences into your new version, so using Edit > My settings > Import might not work on the other system.

Thank you @Monika Gause!

I have found that my Typekit fonts are already synced. I was able to move my windows system fonts by copying the contents of C:\windows\fonts from the old machine to the new machine. This was for win 7 x64 to win 10 x64 professional.

I successfully exported a file as well that contains my Illustrator settings. Once I extracted it from the saved zip file, I found a couple of folders inside it (notably 'EN_us -> swatches') do i just need to take the contents of this folder and copy them to the new machine? Where would I copy them to on Windows - would you know?

P.S. you were right about the import not working for different versions of Illustrator - I get an error message when attempting to import all the settings that I exported from the old version, into the new version.
