How to remove fill that covers part of brush stroke when using self made brush

New Here ,

Followed Draw wreaths in illustrator two ways- Paired and alternating leaves by Helen Bradley on youtube. Made a circle, split it in two, created leaf brush and  replaced the  two cicle halves with brush stroke. Problem is, fill of half circle covers part of brush stroke. It is obvious that it is the fill in the circle half that is covering it, but I am unable to remove the fill. What settings to change to make the whole wreath brush stroke show? Help much appreciated.

The fill might be in the brush itself.

You might want to show it, since not too many people in this forum will be able to see what's on your screen.
