Hi,
I'm struggling to familiarize myself with Illustrator from Corel Draw and I'm not sure how to search for what I want to do here. I'd like to achieve the following but with a dancer silhouette and the word DANCE. Could anyone provide the steps please?

Type your text, place the image behind. Select both and create a clipping mask (Ctrl+7).

The dancer is behind 3 letters that are now shapes. I selected the 3 letters and then the dancer. This is what I get...

defaulta,
How about your just keeping the text as live Type (complete with a New Stroke added in the Appearance panel) instead of Outlining it, then using that as the Clipping Mask for your clipping set?

Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out. The suggestions given by @Doug A Roberts and @marliton are correct. Also, you may watch this youtube tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93-UxVVQa2c). In this, Youtuber has explained in detail about clipping masks specifically related to your query.
Let us know if you need any further assistance. We'd be happy to help.
Thanks & Regards,
Anshul Saini
