How to use offset text path using 3D Extrude Effect and keep the extrusion behind the text?

Hello, I seem to be having an issue that is uncommon. 

I am attempting to extrude an offset text path to give the text a 3D appearance. However, it seems that the extrusion is going both in front of and behind the text, while I only want it behind the text

How can I correct this problem?

I think it is just a matter of the depth of your extrusion.

Thanks for reaching out. As @michelew83603738 suggested above, this can be done by changing the Extrude depth.

You may refer to the settings in the screenshot below. I hope it helps.

It looks like you're trying to change the Appearance of a separate layer, instead of the appearance of the FACE/CAP of the extrusion.

You only need one (1) layer of type with the 3D appearance.  Apply an appearance of your stroke(s) to the type before you extrude it. (see image)
