I can no longer use my old, left-handed short cuts to zoom in and out

Does anybody know how to get the old zoom in and zoom out short cuts back in Illustrator?

I need to zoom in and out of my work all day long and I need to do this with my left hand only. The new zoom in and out short cut requires two hands. This slows my workflow down to half speed.

Does anybody know how to change it back to the old shortcut?

Spotlight has conflicted with the original zoom keyboard shortcut as long as I can remember. Go to your Keyboard preferences and remove or change the Spotlight settings. (I simply remove them--if I need Spotlight, I simply click on the icon in the menu.)

In case it is the Spotlight search that interferes with the Illustrator key combo, you can just assign a different shortcut for Spotlight in the system preferences (e.g. Option+Space).

    First Space, then Command works for me.

    But first Commad and then Space gives Spotlight search.

      Cmd+Space bar to temporarily activate the Zoom tool still does work for me (Illustrator 25.3 on macOS 10.14.6).

       

      Have you already checked if some other application or the OS may have hijacked the key combination?

      Thank you for taking the time to repond to me. 

       

      Yes, I too get that very temporary zoom activation but it seems to be unstable as I try to move in and out of my work. 

       

      I did turn off spotline search in my preferences so at least that's not coming up anymore. 🙂

       

      I'll have to keep hunting.

      it used to be space bar and command which allowed you to do this with your left for faster productivity.

       

      Now, you need to use both hands and press command  and the + key (or - key to zoom out). This requires that you use both hands but then you can't control where you're zooming into. This means you're zoomed in way too closely but not where you wanted to zoom so you're hunting to find where you need to be on the page.

      I'm spending more time lost in my artwork now and not actually working. For me, this is a collosal waste of my time.
