I'm getting this 'cant open illustration file - the filed Is locked or in use - ID-54 - pls help

Sorry to hear about this experience. Would you mind checking if Illustrator also behaves this way with other files? If not, it may be possible that the file is corrupted. Can you first copy it to the desktop and then open it?
