I saved over an old version of a file, can I use an older save from the DataRecovery folder?

I accidentally saved over an old version of a file, I found other versions in an AIDBTemp folder but the AID file only loads the latest save. Can I use the older files inside datarecovery to somehow access older recovery saves?

Basically I was so zoomed in I didn't notice I'd done a select-all and delete at some point more than 200 moves back in the history. Saved over my old work. The computer (iMac 2015) froze while looking in Time Machine (it wasn't set up so no luck there). I did a hard-restart and re-opened Illustrator. It of course only recovered the latest version. It is not on the cloud, no version history.

In the datarecovery folder I found a .AID file and several files with time stamps from hours ago before the file was ruined. Of course the program only auto-recovers the latest one. Holding onto hope that one of those still contains the data I need and can be recovered.

I've tried just opening the files using Illustrator but no luck. It doesn't recognize them.

Thank you for trying! I ended up downloading a data recovery software that got 80% of the work back.

Hello @LizRadtke,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing a link to the AID file(s) after uploading them to Dropbox/Google Drive/etc. so I can check them on my end? Although I cannot guarantee a successful recovery, I will try my best to do so.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you, yes! Is there a way I can give it to you without posting it publically?

Thank you, yes that's the one I have already, the one that overwrote the others. If you look inside the internal folder, there are some files dated earlier in the day, is it possible to recover "961919ce-a031-479f-bc3b-617b1e49fbfa" or "8d193dd9-dace-4917-aff5-f7be6240bd2c"? I understand if not.
