Illustrator 2018 Gradient Annotator

I can't get the annotator to appear...Could anyone help me with this.  I'm at a lost to get the annotator / ramp to appear within my gradient.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Also make sure that the gradient is in the Fill of the object, not in the Stroke, and that the Fill is active.

Fill is active when the Fill icon is overlapping the Stroke icon:

Here the Fill is not active:

The above is the image I'm working on.  Below is where they show the gradient ramp / annotator...which I'm unable to get to show.

Barbara.....Thank you thank you....I just figured it was something simple!...duh...looks like by default that would be "show gradient annotator"!

Under the View menu, make sure that Gradient Annotator is showing.
