Hi there,
my Illustrator 2022 ist very often creating an AIDBTemp folder (followed by a series of numbers) together with an .aid file with the same name when saving a new Illustrator file on my desktop.
This happens without the programm crashing and is disturbing since it ends up with a desktop full of useless files/folders.
Has anybody experienced the same problem?
Thanks in advance
I turned off Automatic Save Recovery Data ==> Adobe Illustrator Preferences ==> File Handling and seems to be working.

Hello @Paolo5E64,
Sorry to hear about this experience. Would you mind sharing the exact location where you are trying to save the files? Also, kindly check if saving your work to a different location which is not an external/network drive or a cloud-synced folder helps resolve the problem.
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks,
Anubhav

I've had this same problem too. My desktop ends up covered with many versions. I have used Illustrator for many years and wondering if this is a new normal behavior. I have to delete these files manually.
Thanks!

Hello @ChadCameron,
We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind checking if the desktop folder is being actively synced to the cloud by OneDrive for Windows or iCloud for macOS and turning it off to check if it helps? We appreciate your time and effort in helping us resolve this issue.
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks,
Anubhav

Hello @Igor5FEB,
I appreciate you bringing up the issue with the temporary files being generated. I recognize how such unexpected occurrences can interfere with your work, and I'm grateful for your understanding as we seek a resolution.
From prior discussions with users who faced similar challenges, it’s hard to determine the exact reason without additional information. Could you please check in system safe mode (Mac/ Windows) and see if Illustrator continues to create these temporary files? Additionally, try altering the scratch disk location, and inform us if the problem continues.
Please also provide the Illustrator & OS version along with your system specifications (CPU, RAM, GPU, etc.).
After you’ve had a moment to investigate, feel free to share your findings, and we’ll collaborate to find a solution.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
