Question

Illustrator 2023 incredibly slow

I used to use a licenced version of CS6 for work and it was fine. I have just subscribed to CC at home and it is virtually unuseable, INCREDIBLY slow performance in virtually every area, from starting up to simple blends. Feeling very ripped off. How can I be paying over 500GBP a year for something that has gone backwards in performance terms. Getting really behind with work because of this.

I have the same problem... VERY SLOW, and often "no response"... what to do now?

Hello @gerhard5CC2,

We understand how frustrating it can be to encounter performance issues while working in Illustrator. Would you mind trying the suggestions shared earlier (https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/illustrator-2023-incredibly-slow/m-p/13894885#M371521) and checking if it helps? If not, kindly share more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, system config (CPU/GPU/Memory), and a screen recording of the problem (https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/screen-record-an-issue-on-windows-amp-macos-for-sharing/td-p/12967727), so we can investigate this further.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hi Anubhav,

Illustrator 2023 performance too bad. PC spec is AMD Ryzen 5, 32GB RAM, M2 NVMe SSD, Asus RTX 3060Ti.

I'll place linked files in my artwork, previously was using Adobe Illustrator CS6 and never faced this kind of terrible lagging issue.

Even delayed to move a layer. Once click save as command it become "Not Responding", must wait 10 to 15 minutes for the Save as Command appear.

Please help to solve this issue.

Thank You.

Hello @MK278080207jfn,

We understand that working with slow performance in Illustrator can be frustrating. Would you mind trying the suggestions shared in this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/optimize-illustrator-performance.html) and performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-110) and checking if it helps?

Also, try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Can you please tell us your hardware specifications and what your system is?

How large are your files?

And: talking about blends, how many steps are in your typical blend?
