Illustrator (and only Illustrator) Won't Allow Portrait Orientation in Page Setup

The Page Setup dialog box Orientation Button appears to work, but after clicking "Okay", the resulting dialog box stubbornly maintains landscape.  There is no way to alter this.  Document after document, also rebooted.  Other applications unaffected, including Photoshop.

Any ideas?  Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I have no clue, but just wondering. What if you go to the artboard tool and manually imput the dimensions, does that work. Have you tried resetting preferences?

Thanks for the ideas!  I'll try resetting the prefs.  I've been working around in the meantime by rotating the artwork to suit what Illustrator clearly wants me to do.
