In Illustrator, my current artboard randomly changes orientation. It's driving me nuts! Has anyone else experienced this?

Is this a bug in the program or a setting?

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

I thought I was the only one dealing with this. It's driving me insane. Usually happens as soon as I click on the artboard to select it. If anyone has a solution, please help.

My Desktop is on Version 28.3 and it keeps doing this quite randomly. My laptop is still on Version 28.1 of Illustrator, and does not do it.

Hello @mj_gv8,

We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind trying to update Illustrator to the latest version (https://adobe.ly/3vWQhUj) and checking if it helps? Also, try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

When I open a file, the artboard automatically changes orientation by itself and undo won't work. I have to manually change it back.

Has anyone else had this issue?

So, It is a bug, I just installed a previous Illustrator version 27.1 and it works fine. On phone with Tech support, hope fully they can have a quick fix. in otherwords, I have created 16 artbords, when it comes to printing there is no artboard 4, it skips and gives me 5. Anyone has that issue? see attacked screenshot this one is from version 27.1, and it shoud work this way.

There is no quick fix for this. It has been going on for years.
