Since Updating to the whole cc2014 suite last week, grid snapping in Illustrator has been terrible. Literally Nothing really snaps to the grid.
Does anyone share this problem? Anyone has a solution to this?
And Yes, i've turned off 'align to pixel grid'.
I'm working on a mac with OSX 10.9.3 running.
Thanks in advance!

It's not a bug.
New rectangles are always live rectangles. Live rectangles cannot be aligned to the pixel grid because it would break them.
What you need to do is convert your live rectangles to paths (using the command in Object > Shape) and then align them to the pixel grid (by checking the option in the transform panel). You can do this for all of them at once.

Hello rsantiago001,
Did you try clearing your Adobe Illustrator 18.0 prefs before launching Ai? Try that and let me know if it works then.
Thanks!

Im having problem with snapping in Illustrator as well
I work in Web mode - so Align to Pixel Grid should work for everything. And even if I manually select "Align to Pixel Grid", it still doesnt work, neither for lines, rectangles, anything. Should I switch to Adobe Firefox for Wireframing? I'm really used to working in Illustrator

I may have found a solution to this annoying snapping problem! Kinda, well not really. I haven't tried it yet. In Creative Cloud application, choose "Apps", and then scroll down to "Find new apps". On the right it has a small drop down menu which says "All apps". From there, choose "Previous versions". Now you can install Illustrator CS6. I know this sounds like a joke, but it seems like the only solution so far. To be honest, I didn't know you could install old versions. This is a good feature, hope it stays in CC 2014.

This is absolutely absurd. I just updated to CC from CS6 and uninstalled CS6...
I guess I'll just forget about that icon for now. I made a circle and can not snap. Some circles snap, but this one.... man, this one just does not snap at all... Spent an hour (read: $200) so far trying to figure
out what is going on... I'll just close Illustrator for the day and fire it back up in some months by the looks of it. Snapping is as vital as create new doc...
btw. The ones that did snap was upon creation. Now I can't snap it after creation.

I'm just a normal user as you are. I don't know.
And even if I knew, I wouldn't be allowed to tell.

I'm having this issue and it's driving me crazy!! I've never seen this before. I am on the most current version of Illustrator CC 2014 on my Mac and PC and the problem persists on both. I have some very tightly aligned triangles and every time I move or scale them the points get all out of alignment. And once I get things fixed, forget trying to align objects to each other or guides.
I have reset my preferences and tried every suggestion I've seen on this and many other threads. There has to be a solution for this. I will wait for a fix/solution from Adobe, but until then I'll try to find a fix on my own.

The snapping and align to grid issue for these new rectangle shapes was fixed in the second release of CC 2014 (version 18.00).

This behaviour is so annoying and frustrating!
I also started using Sketch... Overall resizing behaviour is a total headache now in Ai, even the Pathfinder tool a pain to use with this, I just can't keep turning on and off that option every single time I'm working with a shape!
I can't believe Adobe is willing to lose illustrator users to Sketch for such a basic feature that causes so much problem for no reason.. very bad UX decision on this.
Adobe or Illustrator team, PLEASE FIX THIS

I take back my earlier comment. Snapping problem still persists for the new "rectangles" in Illustrator. Please add an option in the settings (cmd+k) to create the simple rectangles using the rectangle tool.

Turn off 'Align New Objects to Pixel Grid' in the options menu under the Transform panel. That should do the trick.
