Thanks. That's weird. I'm on a Mac, so I almost never reboot my machine unless it's a new Mac OS update. Checking a version number  shouldn't be dependant on a reboot, that's really terrible coding indeed.

1. Get API version from internet

2. Compare API version with currently installed Version

3. Tell User to upgrade

I don't see a reboot required in the pseudo steps above.

It's the creative cloud app that sometimes cause these problems.  I suggested to reboot, I'm assuming that your upgrading is going well ? The other solution is to restart the creative cloud app, easier then having too reboot.  I'm not a fan on rebooting either, sometimes when you reboot, especially if your computer is connected to the net, programs refresh and check for updates etc, it's small stuff, but good to do occasionally, even if once bi-weekly.

Small issue, but (after the update) the little file icon is gone (blank) for the individual .ai files. This is happening on ALL my work stations. How do we fix this?

so much crashing. i have a brand new retina display imac when i bought it, the newest os was already on here so i couldnt revert back. i had issues with illustrator a while back crashing due to "memory or ram" error, which couldnt have been the problem. i have back up external harddrives connected as well.

also ill post it in the photoshop forum, but i was loving the new selection tools bc i have scan my gouache doodles and even on the watercolor, it went perfect on the rim of the paint, perfect, but then i turned on a black background layer to see where i had missed etc and there were dots... like connect the dots, perfect i would say computer generated dots in my paint ( well holes cut out) that were never selected, infact i mask the whole time until im sure then i delete. this happened once with exporting png files but it was a line or stroke look around every edge. so i think the new selection using a mapping property that scans through bc dots every so ...(insert the space you choose to redefine the edge)  however i dont know how they got in the area i wasnt selecting

The export for screens feature is super cool, except for something kind of, well, crucial. When using alternate scales for assets, say, for instance, 0.5x, they are exported not only at 50% pixel dimensions, but also at 50% resolution. I'm guessing this is a bug, because I can't imagine why that would ever be desirable, and you are effectively scaling the image to 25% of the original size. Any notion on when a fix will be implemented? Love the potential of this feature, but it's essentially useless to me right now.

Crashes within minutes of launching the program. Also, Cadtools 9.1.2 won't load.

I wish I could charge back my lost time to Adobe. Maybe if we could, they'd test their software more thoroughly before launching.

Been working for nearly an hour inking a drawing in illustrator and works like the previous version. No crashes so far.

You will need CADtools 9.2 (it's a free update)

When using plug-ins it is always a good idea to subscribe to their publishers' newsletters and read them.

Also in case anyone reading this is using other plugins: Always wait for announcements that plug-ins are ready for the new version.

Hey, in the previous version of Illustrator CC, the Legacy Save for Web used to  remember the format which I used the last time,

now I have to every time manually switch it from GIF to PNG . Any fix for that? Thanks in advance.

File>open and file>place windows STILL don't remember the size you set them to (and still have the title header missing at the top of the window) it is driving me mad when I'm having to import lots of files and I have to resize the damn window every time, it really interrupts my workflow. I've submitted multiple bug/feature requests about this to with every update.

Also, when is illustrators file managing system going to join the 20th century (never mind the 21st) and give you the option of relinking all instances of a link in a document in one go instead of having to navigate to the file every time. Even Indesign manages this!

I installeed this version, but EVERY TIME i try to copy something, Illustrator responds with a "Insufficient Memory" (Memoria non sufficiente in Italian), even with the simplest of objects.

Then, after a while, it crashes.

I'm using MacOs El Capitan

I tried to uninstall it and install it back, with no result...

Save for Screens is really bad. Sure, you added a lot of new features, but the output render is NOT identical to Save for Web (legacy). That renders perfectly, but in the Save for Screens, you get various aliasing issues on edges and bilinear scaling blocking, and output is definitely not as clean as Save for Web. I'll stick with Save for Web (legacy).

I'm highly annoyed with Adobe recently, because Illustrator isn't being looked after. Adobe is in serious trouble. I've seen no new real features, they just want to launch new products, instead of actually making REAL improvements to existing products, instead of going backwards.

Even after 8 years, we still have no Inner Shadow, Bevel or Embosss -- and no I'm not talking about the "fake" 3D emboss thing in Illustrator that never works and always causes bevel intersection warnings. I'm talking about Inner Shadow has been available in Photoshop, InDesign, Fireworks (other Adobe Products) for years, and also is part of CSS3 spec, so the fact that it's not even in Illustrator is absolutely shocking, when all their other products have this feature. Even Sketch, Affinity Designer, Autodesk Graphic, yes even Pixelmator have these as vector effects. And no, Inner Shadow is NOT the same as Inner Glow (which also doesn't work very well in Illustrator).

Ugh.

A couple small items that probably don't deserve their own thread:

• I wish Illustrator inherited InDesign's "Export" feature, which remembers the output format, filename and settings. It's a small thing, but doing a "Save a Copy," deleting the word "copy" from the filename, selecting PDF, and then having to adjust the PDF settings every single time gets old. In InDesign that's command-E, hit return, done.
• Hitting return brings up a dialog with the transformation tools and I use this very frequently. If I want to scale something 90%, I type S to get the scale tool, then return to bring up the dialog, 90, then return and it's done. Unfortunately, this no longer works for Scale because the scale field doesn't have keyboard focus. I notice that I can hit TAB twice to get there, but please fix this. Rotate and Shear work fine.

This is on OS X 10.11.5, Illustrator 20.0.0.

I know exactly what you mean regarding saving out copies and having to jump through the same hoops each time. I have created actions to get around this and then added a folder action to remove the copy text from the file name - so it's all as automated as possible.

The second point about the scale dialogue box is a good point though. This is obviously a bug and needs to be fixed!

The feature that removed the ability to see the anchor points when the "selection too" is in use is actually the most frustrating thing in the world for our company. We need to have the number of points simplified and we use this production for production items. We will also with use the anchor points for alignment and placement of objects and objects that are in groups. We actually need this feature put back or at least a way customers can turn it on and off. Anyway that this can be fixed? We are having the hardest time!!

The Illustrator CC 2015.3 upgrade is awful. The new transform "rotate" dropdown is terrible. I want the old one back.

Another problem is that the Illustrator app is always on top. Other apps are always hidden below, which makes it difficult to work with other apps at the same time. That needs to be fixed now.

Worse still, I don't see any way to roll back to the previous version.

What were you guys thinking when you rolled out this stupid upgrade?
